June 3, 2016 Friday
Today we planned to take it easy and rest up for driving for
tomorrow. First, a trip into town to
find WI-FI, which turned out to be lunch at
a pub while catching up on e-mail and facebook.
Earlier in the morning, at the campground, we met this nice
couple from Denmark, Egon & Inger staying in a campsite around the
corner. After talking for several
minutes, we all had to be on our way, so we mentioned that we would probably
see them that evening. Ed and I went
into Jasper to find WI-FI and also took a drive to a nearby lake.
When we returned to the campground, a nice afternoon of
reading and napping seemed in order. I
decided to make a small dessert to offer to our new friends. After supper, we packed up the dessert and
went to greet them, but when we got to their campsite, someone else was
there! No sign of Egon & Inger or
their rig. Here we are, ready for a party and nowhere to
go! So, we decided to take a walk around
the campground. We came upon another couple
just having their dinner, we introduced
ourselves and offered to share the dessert.
Larry and Sue were from Nova Scotia, traveling across Canada and
visiting relatives. We had a delightful
time trading stories, about where we’ve been and where we’re going.
As Ed and I walked back to our site, who do we run into but
Egon! They had to move to a different
site, because theirs had been reserved for this night. Since there was dessert left, we shared the
rest with them and spent another couple hours trading more stories. We are still laughing about how this all
turned out. That’s why we like camping,
you don’t meet people like that in a motel.
